Ajith, who is considered very close to the Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha, had surprised many by not paying her a visit or wishing her on the electoral victory. It may be recalled that Ajith met Jayalalitha at a function when she was not in power and sought her blessings.
Therefore, when she returned to power, it was naturally expected that he would pay his obeisance without fail especially when his contemporaries like Vijay, Suriya and others did so.
When Ajith was asked why he did not meet Jayalalitha, the star had said that if he met her now it would give rise to unnecessary rumors that he did so to facilitate the release of Mankatha, a movie produced by her arch rival M Karunanidhi’s grandson Dayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies.
