Ace director A.R. Murugadoss' much awaited7aam Arivu, which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, is likely to grace theatres on October 26, 2011. The director is currently busy with the post production works and the music launch will take place in Chennai on September 10, 2011. The story is said to revolve around a time machine which is brought to India by a scientist. 7aam Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a triple role: a circus artist, a Buddhist monk and a scientist. Vietnamese stunt actor Johnny Tri Nguyen will play the baddie.
The film is made with a whopping budget of Rs. 84 crores and interestingly, this is the highest budget film in Suriya's career till date. Recently, producer Udayanidhi Stalin and director Murugadoss approached US based Stan Winston Studios, who has created some mesmerizing graphics in Cameroon's Avatar and Shankar's Enthiran, to do the visual effects. The technical team includes Harris Jayaraj (music), Ravi K. Chandran (cinematography) and Anthony Gonsalves (editing).

That is the latest buzz in Kollywood today. The latest ads in leading dailies indicated that Studio Green, owned by Suriya's cousin K.E. Gnanavel Raja, has bagged the release rights of the film. But then producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri denied such reports today. "Mankatha is not releasing under Studio Green's banner. Mankatha ads have come under Studio Green's banner today... We couldn remove it before of the cut off time in the papers," he clarified on his Twitter page.
Now the latest buzz is that Alagiri is planning to sell the release rights to Sun Pictures. Inside sources say that since Studio Green had plans to sell the television rights to Jaya TV, Alagiri bought the film back from them. But in spite of all this confusion, it is confirmed that the film (with a U/A certificate) will grace theatres on August 31, 2011.
Mankatha is an action thriller which is rumoured to narrate the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches. Arjun will play the role of an investigative officer who takes up the task of exposing the bookies. Thala Ajith will play the role of a gambler; then the cat and mouse game begins. Music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja are already topping the charts and Thala Ajith's salt and pepper look in Mankatha is the latest talk of the town! The film also stars Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaren, Arjun and Vaibhav in prominent roles.

Renowned actor and industrialist Arvind Swamy, who won the hearts of millions with his excellent acting skills and looks inThalapathi,Roja, Bombay and Devaragam (Malayalam) during the 90s, used to say that he would never return to films! But he has finally changed his decision.
The actor will be the villain in the upcoming Vishal-Trisha film directed by Thiru. The actor, who kept on refusing offers from the directors, was reportedly impressed with Thiru's script.
Notably, this is the first time Trisha is pairing up with Vishal. She used to say "No" to Vishal movies for a long time, then suddenly changed her mind and signed this Vishal starrer.

Prabhu Deva directed Vedi is almost complete with just a song and some patchwork to be done. This film stars Vishal and Sameera Reddy as the lead pair and is produced by Vishal’s production house GK Films.
The audio launch of this movie is scheduled to be held on September 1^st and all arrangements pertaining to this are being done, says Shreya Reddy, the producer of Vedi. Vijay Anthony has scored the music for Vedi and the songs will turn out to be hit, say sources close to the film unit.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri, of Cloud Nine movies is hopping mad. The reason is that the police have removed posters, banners, and other publicity material that was put up in Madurai to promote the audio release of Mankatha which is being publicized as Ajith's Golden Jubilee venture. He says that such behavior on the part of the cops is unwarranted and inexcusable.
The producer has adopted a defiant stand and has said that Ajith fans will surely be outraged but they should not respond because the free publicity will be good for the film in the long run.

In a press conference in Chennai, Venkat Prabhu revealed a lot of juicy tidbits about his film Mankatha. Apparently originally the film was made for Venkat Prabhu's band of boys. Ajith surprised him one day with a phone call saying he would gladly work with him if he had a character like the Dark Knight or Batman, a character with shades of grey. When Venkat Prabhu told him that he had written such a character for a project, Ajith agreed to do it!
The director also revealed that his cousin Yuvan did his first two films absolutely free of charge and it was only with Goa that he started accepting remuneration. His father, Gangai Amaren is very pleased that he and his brother, Premgi are doing so well for themselves. In fact, he added, his father says that though Ajith will always be Thala for him personally Venkat Prabhu is THE Thala.
Venkat is introducing fresh talent in this film like Mahat Raghavendra and Ashwin Kakumanu. In addition to this duo, lyricist Niranjan Bharathi who is the great grandson of Mahakavi Bharathiyar is also getting a break with this film. Familiar faces from the original band of boys like Vaibhav, Premgi, and Aravind Akash will also be seen in the film.

In Tamil, he is working in Vettai which is an action film that has him playing a tough cop. So he is really mixing things up career wise!

The gangster thriller Billa 2 is progressing in Hyderabad right now. In a few days the next schedule of shoots are planned to be held in Thootukkudi. Said to be a prequel to Billa, Billa 2 will trace the life of David, while dealing with gangsters. Thootukkudi will be the movie's next stop where the director has planned most part of the shoots.

Billa 2 is scheduled for an early 2012 release. The movie is directed by Chakri Toleti and the Brazilian hottie Bruna Abdullah plays Ajith's lead. Incidentally, Don 2, the sequel to Don from which Billa is inspired, is releasing soon.

All this has resulted in record sales for the music album and Sonic Music as well as the entire Mankatha team are delighted. There has been almost 100% sales which is a brand new record. STR's next film with Nelson has been delayed. Recently they completed 2 schedules in a mere 20 days where some action scenes and the lead pair - STR and Deeksha Seth's scenes were shot. However, a difficult situation has cropped up because two more heroines are needed in this 3 - heroine film.
The director and STR were keen to have Anushka in one of the roles but they have been unable to get her dates. Kareena Kapoor was approached but she scared them away with the astronomical price she demanded. So STR and the director are still hunting for heroines. Word is that they are looking for a big time Bollywood babe or perhaps a foreign import. Filming will begin when the leading ladies are finalized and that is likely to be only in November.

priyanka chopra in vijay's next film

As per the reports actor Vijay has joined hands with Director Murugadoss in his next venture. It’s likely to go on the floors by October-end.

Since Vijay’s next, Velayudham, is expected to hit the marquees by September-end and Murugadoss’ 7 Aum Arivu is scheduled for Diwali (October 26), the maker — as of now that’s Ilaya Thalapathy’s dad SAC — considers October-end an appropriate time for the announcement of the new project.

Bollywood babe Sonam Kapoor was the first choice to play opposite the Pokkiri star. Now a B’town source informs us that the sizzling beauty Priyanka Chopra is also under consideration for the role. The Fashion star isn’t a stranger to K’town.

She made her Tamil debut with Vijay in a film called Tamizhan way back in 2002.

Though the National Award-winning star is currently busy with Bollywood flicks, sources close to her say that she won’t relinquish the opportunity to do a Vijay-Murugadoss film.

Murugadoss’ favorite composer Harris Jayaraj is being roped in for the music and talks are on with another award-winner, cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, for the camera work.

Shruthi Haasan is pinning all her hopes on 7 Am Arivu, her maiden Tamil venture. The movie directed by A R murugadoss, is all set for release soon. Shruti Hassan feels that her upcoming bilingual film will give her the much needed break.

"We have seen the impact of the film 'Ghajini' on the career of Asin. After '7am Arivu' release, the film will have a similar impact on my career too. My role has scope for performance and this film will showcase my acting talent. We all know, what an actor Suriya is and what he is capable of. In this film, he will mesmerize the audience once again," said Shruti Hassan.

The story of the film is based on a time machine, that is invented by a young scientist, played by Shruti Hassan. The time machine reveals various hidden truths about ancient Tamil history and tradition, even as a powerful gang is chasing the invention to snatch it away. How their attempts are thwarted by Suriya and how he makes the world understand and appreciate the richness of Tamil culture is what the film about.

Suriya plays three different roles in this film - An aggressive monk, a scientist and a circus artist. Music has been scored by Harris Jayaraj. Suriya is expected to perform some tricks(which he got trained for his role as a circus artist) at the audio launch of the film.

Shruthi Haasan meanwhile is doing a couple of films in Telugu including one opposite Siddharth. 2011 has been a fantastic year for Shruthi so far. Hope the good run continues.

Silambarasan's most-delayed project Kettavan will take off in 2012. The movie, which has been postponed on several times, will shape under the actor's guidance, as he has taken the responsibility of directing the Tamil film.

The Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa star has confirmed the news and has said that Kettavan will definitely hit the floors next year. He has made his mind on the film to start the principal photography in 2012 and Simbu himself will direct the film.

It may be recalled that multi-faceted Simbu directed films like Manmadhan and Vallavan. While the first mentioned movie was a blockbuster, the second film was considered as a superhit.

However, he is currently busy with Osthi, Vettai Mannan and Poda Podi. After completing these projects, Silambarasan will start Kettavan.

Following the success of her maiden Hindi film Singham, pretty Tamil-Telugu actress Kajal Aggarwal is flooded with offers from Bollywood! Though she is willing to accept more 'interesting Hindi movies', she has already laid down her set of rules and conditions to Bollywood film makers.
Heading her list are 'no bikini act' and 'no kisses', which have become quite normal in Bollywood in the recent times!
"Unlike many debutantes who claim they would expose on screen only if 'it's the demand of the script', Kajal isn't flashing any of those cards. She is content with the kind of work that she is getting and is unwilling to follow any of the current Bollywood diktats. She has been saying 'no' to all such demands coming her way. She is very clear that she would never get into any excessive exposure for any film," a friend of Kajal said.
Kajal is currently shooting for Suriya starrer Maatraan in Tamil and will soon begin her shoot with Mahesh Babu for The Business Man (Telugu) from August end.

Bharath upset with Vaanam team

Actor Bharath is very upset with the producers of Vaanam. Why? He feels that he has been sidelined at the promotional activities of the film. "People loved my character and I learnt a lot while working on the film. But, what matters at the end of the day is your face on the publicity material and I'm unhappy that my count is low. To be frank, there was almost nothing," Bharath was quoted as saying.

Ajith's Billa 2 progressing in Hyderabad

Ajith's much awaited Billa 2, directed by Chakri Toleti, is progressing briskly in Hyderabad. According to sources, the team will soon move to Goa to shoot some important sequences. A portion of this film is likely to be shot in Russia. There are also reports that the team will soon launch a Billa 2 logo contest where the public can send in entries.
This prequel is produced under the banner of Wide Angle Creations (led by George Pious and Suresh Balaje, son of producer-actor K. Balaje, who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth in 1980) and presented by Mumbai based Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group. Popular model Huma Qureshi, who has appeared in ads for many leading brands, will play the love interest of David Billa in this film. Bollywood star Sudhanshu Pandey, Bruna Abdullah and Malayalam actor Manoj K. Jayan will play prominent roles in this film, made with a whopping budget of Rs. 35 crores.
Billa 2's technical team includes cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Shruti Haasan confirms about Dhanush’s project

Shruti Haasan has said that she was approached by Aishwarya Dhanush to play the female lead in the film that is to be directed by her. The actress revealed that she was excited about sharing the screen space with the national award winner Dhanush but unfortunately her dates did not match up with their requirements.

Since Shruti has a couple of projects that needs her attention at the moment, she could not sign up the Dhanush starrer to be directed by Aishwarya. The actress, however, wished the entire team all the very best. She has therefore confirmed that she will not be a part of the film.

Rajinikanth has bagged the third spot in the Zoom Supernova 2010 top 50 list. The first place went to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan was selected for the second place. The Zoom TV, an entertainment channel from the Times of India Group, described the Superstar as a demigod – ‘Rajinikanth who is a demigod unto himself.’

The Badhshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan was placed in the fourth place while the Oscar winner AR Rahman is in the fifth place. It is interesting to note that Rajini and AR Rahman were the only South Indians who managed to get into this top 50 list which is dominated by the north Indian celebrities.

Deiva Thirumagal going places!

If Deiva Thirumagal is a wonderful film, its promotions are equally good. The film has already been declared a hit and box office collections match to it. And that is not all! Deiva Thirumagal, which stars Vikram, Anushka and Amala Paul, has one more feather to add to its cap! Yes, the film has been nominated as India’s entry for Asia Pacific Awards at Brisbane, Australia by the Film Federation of India (FFI) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

UTV’s Dhananjayan confirmed that Deiva Thirumagal is the first film that has been recognized by the FFI and NFDC and selected for the Asia Pacific Awards at Brisbane. The event will take place in November this year, he adds.

Prabhu Deva's next big project in Bollywood

Prabhu Deva will be wielding the directorial baton for the Hindi remake of Karthi's Siruthai. His leading man will be Akshay Kumar. Siruthai is a remake of Vikramakoodu starring Ravi Teja and Anushka. The makers feel that Akshay Kumar with his penchant for action and comedy will be the perfect choice for this role.
